I can’t tell you how many times I have written and erased this section. I think because it feels so strange sharing information about myself when either you already know me on a personal level, or you don’t know me at all. But here’s the thing… I do believe that we are all connected in some way, and I love getting to know other people and sharing our stories are what help us connect. Here’s is a glimpse at how I got here professionally.
I became a kindergarten teacher after college and married my college sweetheart, Dan shortly after graduate school. I have an undergrad in Human Development and Family Science and a Masters in Education. After my short teaching era, I entered into my stay-at-home mom era. Our era of having children was like both the swirl of a tornado and the most peaceful, calming breeze. It was a time of spiritual transformation for me and if you follow me long enough, you may just get that whole story. My kids are now all in school full-time (in a total of 4 different schools), so I am in my era where I am simultaneously driving all over the place managing full calendars and at the same time exploring my creative side in the hours in between.
I discovered blogging when my second child was born with a rare birth defect, and it’s held a place in my heart ever since. Throughout my life I have had many “synchronicities” that have led me here. For example, my Master’s degree capstone was all about designing an adaptive and inclusive classroom. Now I consider myself a disability advocate. As a young child I dreamed of being an architect and wanted to create a wheelchair accessible neighborhood around my grandparents’ beautiful land. I quit architecture school, but I still love design and get to design our own accessible home today. I never imagined having 5 kids, but I knew the thing I wanted most was to be a mom. I always say God knows what I need, always, if only I trust the process and allow the miracles.
