It’s International Day of People with Disabilities. The United Nations created this day on December 3rd 1992 to help promote awareness, acceptance and uphold the dignity of those living with disabilities. I don’t know what it’s like to have a disability, but I have been gifted with an interesting vantage point of living with a disability. It’s been an honor, a challenge and an ultimate gift to be the mother to a beautiful boy who has lived with disability his whole life. If there’s something I know about moms, it’s that they are invisibly tied to their children. Our children’s struggles are our struggles. Our children’s sufferings are our sufferings and their joys are compounded in our hearts times 100. So today, please do not feel bad for anyone living with a disability. Do not pity the mother carrying her child. But rather be politely curious. Be accepting of their needs and differences, be creative with how you can help and embrace the gift that their unique perspective brings to the world. #internationaldayofpeoplewithdisability #idpwd #disavilityadvocacy #disabilitymom #disabled #spinabifidakids #spinabifidamom #wheellife #specialneedsparenting

Good morning! I am excited to share that after years of a “pause” from blogging, AccessibleNest website/blog is back up and running with a refresh! While my passion for accessibility in both home and the community is still present and has a place on the site, the mission has expanded to be a resource with simple ideas, inspo and encouragement for all families, especially mom’s (dads and all “home leaders”) who are navigating the daily management of homelife in today’s busy, modern world. Some things I will be sharing on the site are musings of “musings of my momma heart”, easy recipes in my gathered meals page and home design and management tips for your “accessible nesting”.
