mom in the midst 1.23.24

I’m just a girl, it’s a typical Tuesday night (and not Taylor’s version… any Swifties get me?)

But it’s a typical Tuesday for me. Just a mom in what I recently realized is the “midst”.

Is that you? A mom, swimming in all the things, activities, face cream choices, laundry, play dates, face cream choices, personal goals, car pools, did I mention face creams for those ever-so sneaky crows feet…

Yeah, if you are, then you get what I’m talking about. You are in a place where your kids aren’t so little you aren’t hauling car seats and pining for a few bathroom break. But you are hauling kids all over town, scrambling for dinner in between activities and trying to get all the laundry done because that still is just as intense as it was when you were throwing burp clothes and stained onsies in the wash.

If you are here, you get what I mean by now about the “midst”. You are in the midst of life. You aren’t in the quiet nights of being up with the baby or the quiet nights of worrying when your teen or older child will get home. (Also, if you are in those stages- they certainly have their own busy and uncertain and craziness about them). But you are in the midst of getting your kids where they want and need to be, you’re juggling work or home responsibilities, you may be caring for other relatives and you’re basically trying to do it all in a mere 24 hours a day.

This little journal entry today is not about advice or questions or really anything other than just being here. I’m just sitting here tonight, sending prayers, (because I am a praying girl) out to the momma’s in the midst tonight. Being in the midst is both beautiful and amazing…you are finally seeing your children emerge more into their true selves and see their lights shine more, and also, you are working so hard to keep both their lights and your own lights shining. I pray that tonight, on your typical Tuesday, you can find both the peace and the reward in this crazy midst of motherhood.
