how to know when to pause and when to push 9.3.2024
Man, if there is anything moms know how to do, it is to push. I mean, no pun intended, but really, since birthing our babies, we pushed right into motherhood.
We push ourselves. We know many people are counting on us. We want to excel. We have a lot to prove.
We push our spouses. We know they need our support, and we want to be their number one cheerleader.
We push our kids. We know them inside and out. We see when they can work harder, and we sense when theyโve hit their limits.
But what about pauses?
When we are rushing from one activity to the next or volunteering for the school event or just simply getting dinner on the table, do we know when it is necessary to pause.
I am asking this because I am currently battling a cold. Am I knocked down on the couch? No.
Could I be getting my to do list done? Yes.
But do I mentally, physically or spiritually need to pause?
I think this is an important question we should ask ourselves daily. Pauses have and sometimes still make me feel guilty. We live in a society where pushing is expected and celebrated. But, sometimes, the only way to refuel, I have found is to pause.
Do you give yourself the gift of pause, even if for 5 minutes? If you donโt, you should try it, it may just refuel the push that we are so good at.
